The applicant for the zoning change to allow for a Cell Tower on the James Island Youth Soccer Club's field on Fort Johnson Road is holding a meeting for residents of the surrounding neighborhoods on Thursday, February 12 at 4:30 at James Island Town Hall. The applicants will be providing information and answering questions.
There will be a public hearing on the rezoning to allow the cell tower there at the Town Council meeting on February 19 at 7:00. (At Town Hall, of course.)
It is my understanding that the Cell Tower will provide funding for the Youth Soccer Club and improve cell phone service for the southeastern portion of the Town. It will be tall and visible from surrounding neighborhoods.
A first reading of the ordinance will be on the agenda for the Town Council meeting on February 19. If it passes first reading, second and final reading will be at the March 19 meeting of Town Council.
