Please Come to the JIPSD Meeting on Monday, October 13 at 7:00

Soon after I was reelected, I wrote the JIPSD Commissioner, asking them to work with the Town to provide tax relief.

If the Commissioner's would agree to help the Town, it would be possible to reduce a homeowner's property tax on the Fall 2015 tax bill by up to 30 percent.   The reason this large tax reduction is possible is that the Town budgeted money for tax relief for both 2013 and 2014.   The Town asked the Commissioners to help the Town with tax relief both of those years and the majority of Commissioners refused.  That money is still in the Town's tax credit account.  I would like to use it to provide as much tax relief as possible as soon as we can.

A few week ago, I received an email from Chairman Hollingsworth:
"Upon extensive review and consideration our position on this matter is still the same."
I am not sure who participated in the "extensive review and consideration," but the position was clear enough--no help for the Town.

Fortunately, the Commissioners are to receive an update at their regular meeting this Monday, October 13, at 7:00.

I plan to be there.   There will be a public comment period at the beginning of the meeting and another one at the end.   I plan to again ask the Commissioners to work with the Town to provide property tax relief.

Commissioner Hollingsworth and Commission Brown-Crouch are both up for reelection on November 4th, just a few weeks away.

Where do they stand?    Come hear what they have to say.

I believe that several of the other candidates for JIPSD Commissioner plan to be there too.    Perhaps we might hear from them during the public comment period.

Here is a list of all of the candidates.

Please join me at the JIPSD meeting on Monday, October 13 at 7:00 PM at the JIPSD offices at Signal Point Road.

Encourage the Commissioners to work with the Town.   Find out where the incumbents seeking reelection stand.   See some of the other candidates and hear what they have to say.

See you there.

P.S.  If you can't attend the meeting, you can contact the Commissioners.  Ask them to cooperate with the Town on tax relief.
